‘Land of the Lochans’ is the New CD by Scottish Composer James Douglas. It features 9 beautiful pieces of music, all performed by George Gwilt (Flute) and James Douglas (Piano). This digitally recorded Album reflects the beauty of NW Scotland, with a mountain cover photo of ‘An Teallach’ and Loch Droma (near Ullapool). The CD includes ‘Suilven’ which is taken from a longer work: ‘A Procession of White Mountains’ and was written following a Winter Journey from Assynt to Ullapool. This CD also features much of James Douglas work for Solo Flute: ‘The Sun Dancing’ is a very lively work and is contrasted by the slow and melodic piece: ‘To Beinn Ghoblach.’ The title track 'Land of the Lochans' was written about N W Scotland and is one of the longer works on this recording. The CD ends with the first performance of ‘Scena: Lammermuir Hills’ for Keyboard. This track maybe gives an insight into some of James Douglas’ future ideas and is a haunting end to this magical CD.

'Cry of the Deer' consists of a series of six moving meditations by the former Vicar of Holy Island, Rev. Canon David Adam. These are all taken from the book entitled: 'Cry of the Deer' (David Adam, Triangle/SPCK 1987), interspersed by evocative and inspirational flute interludes before and after each meditation. This is an ideal recording for use in groups or individually. The music is taken from 'Hebridean Dream Music' by James Douglas and is played by George Gwilt (flute). This piece is now available in full on the CD 'A Vision' by James Douglas. The music is a challenging flute solo with dramatic turns throughout.
