I am delighted to be able to inform you that we are launching a new CD on Friday 6th July 2007 in Ullapool, entitled: 'Peace of the Highlands.' This stunning CD will feature 15 tracks all written about or influenced by the 'Peace of the Highlands' by James Douglas.

'Good Musical News for Ullapool'

The Music of Composer James Douglas, as featured in the BBC series ‘Sahara with Michael Palin,’ has been performed all over the world; and now his music is reaching Ullapool and has been influenced by the people and businesses who live and work there as well as the beautiful scenery that he is so lucky to live with. A New CD of his music entitled: ‘Peace of the Highlands’ will be launched at The Macphail Centre, Ullapool at a Concert on Friday 6th July 2007 at 7.30pm and he will be available to sign copies on the evening. The CD will include popular music such as ‘The Ullapool Fanfare,’ for 2 Trumpets and Piano, recently written for the people of Ullapool and surrounding areas from Ullapool to Aultbea; from Lochinver to Gairloch; as well as ‘Failte’ which was recently dedicated to 5 local Ullapool businesses. This new CD will also feature the mountains in Sutherland, loved by many, with ‘A Procession of White Mountains’ for Flute & Piano taking visitors on an exciting and memorable journey in winter from past Stac Pollaidh, Cul Mor, Cul Beg, Canisp and finally to Suilven. West Coast Composer James Douglas has already established a new tradition of beginning and ending each of his concerts with ‘The Ullapool Fanfare’ and the new CD will continue this tradition. Also to be performed for the first time at the Concert will be ‘The Seafarer’ a song for Baritone & Piano, featuring rising talent of Richard Mein (graduate of RSAMD, see attached photo).
